As the new year rolls around, I am taking on new adventures personally and professionally. I’m excited to share our new website with current and future subscribers. Many already know me as a travel enthusiast, but did you know I am a travel agent too? Are you ready to travel with me?
Ah, Bali!
My first travel escapade of the year was to Bali, Indonesia. I decided to take a solo journey to celebrate my 39th birthday. After much research, I discovered that Bali had so much to offer. From the fantastic beaches, friendly locals, delicious cuisine, and unique culture – there is something for everyone! I didn’t know what to expect, really, because this was the furthest away from home I had ever been, but I can assure you every moment was unforgettable!
Karsa Spa, located in the village of Bangkiang Sidem, was unique. Bali is known for relaxation and serenity, flower baths, and massages in nature. At Karsa Spa, I had a two-hour treatment which included a one-hour massage with oils, a 30-minute mask massage, and a 30-minute flower bath. All of these treatments were performed under an outside hut with a fresh area environment and tranquil surroundings. It was very peaceful here, and the location allowed me to truly relax while many, many miles from home.

Animal Adventures
Bali is known as the Land of the Gods and provides peace and serenity through its beauty. Areas of Bali are also known for providing experiences with animals, and they do not disappoint. I was able to experience the beautiful Monkey Sanctuary Forest during my adventure. The mission of this sanctuary is to conserve the area based on the concept of Tri Hita Karana. Seeing how the monkeys have made this place their home was impressive. Even more impressive were the monkeys’ selfie-taking skills. My little friend has been on the job for a while.
Another animal interaction I had was with local elephants. These very gentle creatures are enormous! I just loved being around them. I spent some time at the Mason Elephant Lodge and Park and participated in a 30- minute ride on an elephant. The views and experience are something I will not soon forget! Afterward, as part of the excursion, I scrubbed and bathed one. I never thought I would smell like an elephant, so having extra clothing on hand is critical. Thankfully, I came prepared.
Bubbles, Bubbles Everywhere!
Oh! I spent a night in a bubble. No, really, I did! On my actual birthday, I treated myself to something extra and spent the night at the Bubble Hotel Bali. I arrived early in the afternoon, so I had time to order dinner and relax. I definitely recommend booking your stay during Bali’s dry season. Imagine going to the restroom outdoors, and it’s rainy. Not fun! I did go solo on this trip and enjoyed my time alone, but this location may require a “plus one.” There were a lot of unknown sounds happening in the local forest.

Finding a Spiritual Solace
I was able to experience a Balinese ceremony at Tirta Empul temple. Upon entering the temple, guests are provided a wrap to place over their clothes. An additional garment is given to those looking to participate in the temple’s water ceremony. I experienced an offering to the Gods and learned the meanings behind water purification. It was an incredible spiritual experience that I’ll never forget, and I’m so glad I got to experience it in person.

Time to Talk Food
My two favorite places to eat were Bebek Tebasari Resto Ubud and Bebek Joni. Their specialty dish and what brings customers in to dine is fried duck. Although that kind of meal isn’t for me, I suggest you try it if you’re a meat person. I heard many raving about the delicious meal. I ordered their fish and chips, chicken lumpia, chicken skewers, rice, noodles, and veggies. Bebek Teba Sari has two locations, and both were great. At Bebek Joni, they had fried bananas and ice cream. Simply delicious and just the right sweet touch I needed. 😋
I couldn’t break all my habits while on vacation and needed my morning coffee. After a bit of searching, I found this grocery and bakery-style location called Pepito Market. Guests find lots of yummy treats here, so I was able to grab a quick morning bite. For convenience, while traveling in Bali, there are a couple Pepito Markets across the area.

Smile!
Last but not least, I was able to dress up pretty at Aloha Ubud. The view here is impressive and makes you want to stay forever. I was able to have my photos taken on swings in nests. Feeling the swing take you out over the rice fields and seeing the beautiful scenery was breathtaking. I was a little nervous at first because of the heights, but the experience was genuinely freeing once up there. The staff at Aloha Ubud is terrific, and they take great photos and videos to capture the perfect memories.
Is it Too Soon To Book My Return Trip?
My time spent in Bali was short, but I definitely will return to explore more. There is plenty more I want to do and see across the beautiful country. All of my excursions and dining locations were smooth because of my local driver. He was great at getting safely to places, and he was accommodating all around. Raka, my driver, also told me he rents a villa out to tourists. It’s beautiful, and I look forward to staying here the next time I visit. Send me a message to help book a stay at Raka’s villa.
I look forward to helping you book your journey to experience the sights and sounds of Bali.
